About the Head Coach
Thaddeus Knight has resided in Portland since August 2010. Thaddeus is the Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach for distance athletes at Jefferson High School.
In addition to Track & Field and Cross Country, he also coaches soccer with North Portland Soccer Club and futsal at Rose City Futsal. He also enjoys coaching flag football, baseball, basketball, tennis, and ultimate frisbee.
Since 2012, he has worked to offer athletic opportunities to the North Portland community, coaching toddlers, youth, and adults in a variety of sports. He spent a number of years working through Portland Parks & Recreation and has also provided sports classes through SUN programs at Beach and Faubion.
Prior to moving to Portland, Coach Thaddeus taught at Horizon Academy in Roeland Park, KS. While there, he started a Track and Cross Country team that participated in meets with other middle schools and high schools in the Kansas City area. Before moving to KC, Thaddeus grew up in Tennessee, where he and his twin brother enjoyed playing football and baseball, then spent high school and college in short shorts and running shoes. During those years, Thaddeus enjoyed participating in Cross Country in the fall and specializing in the 1500m and 800m Track & Field events in the spring.
Thaddeus coaches with an emphasis on technique, strategy, and personal development. As kids learn in their own way and at their own speed, Thaddeus allows the natural process of learning to occur through guided instruction.
In addition to being a registered coach with USATF, Thaddeus holds a US Soccer coaching license and is CPR and First Aid Certified.
Volunteer coaches: Lauren Reed, John Knight
